Stripes on Rugs Decorating
With varying sizes of stripes and different elements of color, striped rugs can go a long way in setting the overall theme and tone for a room. Sometimes larger stripes can create contemporary look on a modern area rug. Furthermore the smaller the room you are decorating, large bold stripes have a more substantial effect. When you decide on a striped pattern in your room it is vital that the other pieces of furniture have a more contemporary rug look due to the bold nature of many striped patterns. Integrating to many patterns into a room can create an overly “hectic” look.
Lastly, and most importantly is the color scheme of the striped rug that you select. A general rule of thumb for modern tibetan rugs is to select a color combination that mirrors that of the existing colors in the room, or compliments those colors. Some striped rugs have a very bold color combination with contrasting colors. This type of pattern can work well but only when the existing pieces of furniture in the room are monotone and have subtle, understated colors.
With some ingenuity, you can break up the look of any room in your home using area rugs. The more difficult task is to choose the right rug to go with the decor of the room. Area rugs, in addition to being the starting point of the good design of the room can also finish it off well.
