How to get more traffic using Twitter For Business

September 26, 2009

The 140 character whiz kid know as Twitter has produced a media storm this year with a frenzy of celebrities mentioning Twitter on their blogs , and marketing experts telling you, we should use Twitter to build thousands of followers , the interest in Twitter is at a record peak . You probably know people on Twitter and you’ve most likely had Twitter invites from your leading suppliers . That segues us to our main topic . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?

I don’t think many people understand the Twitter phenomena. And that’s probably because it can mean different things to different people.

Despite what you think of Twitter for yourself, there are opportunities you should deploy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. Even at a minimum you have one more point of contact via Twitter , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. I mean a few people are just going to wonder if your business (or you) are on Twitter and type in twitter dot com slash acme widgets. Now it will be embarrassing is a cyber squatter is sitting on your own name, so another good reason to make sure you secure your place in the Twit’o'sphere. (By the way things can be done about cyber squatters, just ask me.)

We have other articles on getting targeted traffic, but let’s look at something we can do in ten minutes We’ll take a more detailed look at building a targeted list but first let’s explore a quick and easy option.

Some business owners think of Twitter traffic as an internal channel of Twitter itself . A concept most Twitter directories promote . But , the advantages of having your existing traffic follow you on Twitter are plentiful . So huge that we need to take action .

The easiest thing is to add a Twitter “badge” to your web presences . It’s simply a graphic showing who you are on Twitter with a link direct to your Twitter page. In the videos I mentioned earlier , they go in to how you extend that concept , but the badge we can do now, with no excuses.

WHERE CAN I CREATE MY TWITTER BADGE?
You can get your own customised Twitter badge for FREE from this site ;
http://www.TwitterDominator.com/followme_badges.php – Custom Twitter Badge for free .

You paste the HTML in to your site.

You can also paste the pure HTML in to most blog widgets. I’ve inserted them on all my blogs.

The Twitter badge is sealed in its own code block so should integrate perfectly almost anywhere.

If you create a table or div tag to position it in , then you can just paste the code in in that place . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.

I think you’ll be surprised at the results a simple Twitter badge will bring you. Do it today and wait a few weeks and you should start to see some results.
