Dalls Cowboys Helmets

November 2, 2009

The Dallas Cowboys helmet design consists of a vertical stripe of blue-white-blue with a very unique silver and blue star that is famous in all America. A Dallas Cowboys helmet is a great collection item for many fans, particularly if it is signed by one of the players. A peculiarity here is that the Cowboys are probably the only team in the NFL who add the player’s name under the vertical blue-white-blue decal on the helmet. Cowboys’ history has seen several modifications of the helmet, and the first color variations go in the 70s. Back then, instead of blue-white-blue, the Dallas Cowboys helmet had a red-white-blue stripe on the crown.

This change in the Dallas Cowboys helmet pattern was made to honor the United States bicentennial anniversary in 1976. On very special occasions, the players can also wear plain silver helmets to send a certain message. The absence of the silver-blue star was used in the 1994-1995 playoffs during one game just to get the league-wide ‘throwback’ policy in the spotlight. Anyone who is a real Dallas Cowboys fan would understand that any change in the uniform is meant for a certain purpose and should be appreciated as such. Although rare, such happenings could become real news in the sports world.

In terms of memorabilia, the Dallas Cowboys helmet is the pinnacle of a great collection. You can definitely boast with such an item particularly if it is signed. Authentic Dallas Cowboys helmet models are available with many stores, and you can recognize them by the certification as well as by the higher price. Most people who buy such items have an interest in enhancing their connection with the team since they come to belong to a group and identify with the Cowboys field ‘personality’.

A Dallas Cowboys helmet may thus give value to a collection and allow one to be pleased with personal achievements. Don’t be surprised if you see the silver-blue star on the Dallas Cowboys helmet on watches, jerseys, posters, socks and lots of other memorabilia. They turn into inspirational items and a great way people use to show preference or express support. A collector will hardly have the chance to wear the Dallas Cowboys helmet in a game, but at least he/she can take pride in the collection.

The Island of New Guinea

November 2, 2009

New Guinea is the world’s second largest island, and is was well one of the world’s last, vast and remote wildernesses. With a complex political history, this great island is divided. The western half, is now referred to as Papua, a region of Indonesia, while the eastern half, Papua New Guinea or PNG, has been an independent country since 1975.

New Guinea is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, and endures sporadic volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and occasional tsunamis. A mountain range rises across the length of New Guinea and deep rainforest is all enveloping.

The island contains an astonishing wealth of natural features, some protected by National Parks and UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserves, but huge swathes of it are unmapped and virtually unreachable. The chief towns of both countries are, naturally, on the coast, but there is little in the way of roads or infrastructure. Travel is mainly by boat. Rivers criss-cross the whole region or you can travel on foot, or by plane

New Guinea is inhabited by about 1,000 different tribes, speaking a similar number of languages. Tourists are few, mainly visiting the extraordinary Dani culture, in Papua’s stunning Baliem Valley. Despite being nominally Christians, the Dani live traditionally.

Men wear penis sheaths, ladies wear short skirts, made of orchid fibres, worn beneath the backside. This high valley, surrounded by mountain peaks, is a vision of incredibly fertile cultivated fields. The Baliem River provides fish, and pigs are essential, being eaten at every ceremony.

In PNG the major attraction is the tribal hunter-gatherers who live along the banks of the island’s longest river, the Sepik. This culture is intrinsically entwined with crocodiles, and the men’s large scarification reflects the animal’s scales.

Living in communal longhouses, Sepik River people are famous for their wood-carvings. Varying in style from village to village, many of these find their way into the great museums around the world.

Easy Packing For Hawaii Vacations

November 2, 2009

Hawaiian vacations offer a fabulous range of things to do and see, and just as good a range of things to eat. Everybody enjoys their vacation in Hawaii, no matter the reason for them choosing it. People have many different reasons for visiting the archipelago, from getting married there, that many do, taking a short vacation during school holidays or having an annual holiday lasting two weeks or more. Irrespective of their reasons for visiting this group of 19 islands and atolls, there is so much to do that many find it difficult to decide what they should pack.

Clothes: Don’t overdo the shorts, T-shirts and sun-tops. It can sometimes be cool or wet in Hawaii, so take some pants and a few shirts to cover your arms. A warm coat would be wise – you might be glad of it depending on the time of year, and take some socks. You will definitely need beachwear and towels, but decide in advance what sports equipment you will need that you can’t hire – and don’t forget the sunscreen!

Activities: Although you will be out most of the time, it does rain in Hawaii, and you might be glad of something to do while you are inside. This is particularly true if you have the kids with you, and some games would be a good idea even if they are computer games or a GameBoy or other traveling game. Some books wouldn’t take up too much room, and will come in useful for the children if you have a lot of driving to do. Some visitors like to read while relaxing with a Hawaiian cocktail after their morning swim.

Camera: Don’t forget your camera. This is an important item as you’ll want to take photos of all the great places you visit. You can also enjoy taking videos if you have a video camera. Also make sure you take some back up batteries, and of course more than one memory card.

Travelers Checks: Travelers checks are safer than cash. If they get lost you can have them refunded, but not cash! They are useful for incidental expenditure, and if you take exactly what you budgeted to spend then you won’t spend too much. Make sure you leave plenty time to order and receive them.

Fishing Equipment: Hawaii offers lots of fabulous fishing and diving around the coast, including sports fishing and reef diving on the coral reefs surrounding the atoll. If you want to take advantage of that, make sure you take your wet suit and scuba equipment and also your fishing gear. There is a wide variety of fish to be caught round the shores and in the lakes and rivers, so make sure you know what is legal. You can hire equipment there if you don’t want to travel with it but most prefer to take their own.

These are just some of the items you need to think about packing when you go to Hawaii, but to make sure you don’t forget anything, be sure to plan your packing with a list. Then relax and enjoy your Hawaii vacation knowing you have everything you need!

My Dirt 2 Review

November 2, 2009

Are your feeling dirty? I mean dirt 2 that is. Dirt2 is the hottest racing game to hit the Xbox 360 consoles in years. It’s an off-road racing game that includes trophy trucks, rally cars. Class one buggies, and many more. If you want to be thrown into the most realistic off road racing game that there is this is it. Not only is the single player amazing taking you all across the globe to real race events with real driving pros! Alone with the great single player the multiplayer is also amazing. With the option to do a jam session along with seven of your friends you can do the pro tour in teams of four to try to get your rank higher.

You start out as a one and for each race you get points from not only doing good in the race but also completing preset missions that you can see in the options screens. Some of that mission consists of taking out a certain amount of trees and etc. or another one is spin daddy, it pretties self-explanatory. Dirt2 is game for all ages and can be enjoyed by many people. Who doesn’t like to drive cars over hundred and wreck your best friend and get away with it? I know I do. If you have doubts about the game don’t go out and by yourself a copy and you will be one happy customer. These are just a few of the reasons why I like to get Dirty!!!
