Blink-182 Summer Tour Fun
As all blink-182 fans know; the bands back and they’ve already kicked off a US 2009 Summer Tour, but who are the fans these days? Heck, I mean, the band has been around for more than a decade and going as strong as ever.
Well, it’s quite simple; there is no marketing demographic box to place the blink-182 fans in as they come in all different shapes, sizes and colours. That’s right, I love blink-182 and so do millions of others around the world and if music could stop wars, it would probably come in the form the band blink-182 rocking it out in Afgahnistan.
So, to help spead the word (and more to the point, have a laugh) blink182 UK fan site has come up with the “I love blink 182″ campaign.
The concept is quite simple, fans are encouraged to go to the homepage of Google, type in to the search box, “I love blink-182″ and then hit the ‘I’m feeling lucky’ button. At this point, what a lot of people do not realise is that the ‘I’m feeling lucky’ button basically takes you to what would of been the website in position 1 of Google if you had of just hit the regular search button.
On entering the ‘I love blink182′ website, it is templated in a way as to look just like a search result page from Google, but with a difference.
The browser will not be shown the regular search result for if you were to type this in to Google as normal, but will be shown a more commical page. For example, under the search bar, you now have the option to refine your search by doing another ‘interwebs’ search, or do a search via the ‘Mexican pirate’… which of course is a lyrical reference to an early song by blink-182.
Remember to eat, sleep & blink.
