Martin’s Boavista or Jacqueline Gold’s Marbella

August 20, 2009

I’ve been recently reading the autobiography by Jacqueline Gold, the CEO of Ann Summers stores who has had a roller coaster of a personal life and specifically can relate to various aspects of her life’s struggle as well as constant enthusiasm for living and never giving up.

I specifically recall from within the autobiography Jacqueline’s attachment to marbella costa del sol as she writes many times about how her friends and Jacqueline make an annual pilgrimage to marbella costa del sol for her girlie week in the sun. They book into a good hotel as a gang of them and do all the girlie stuff for a week and let their hair down, clearly also shopping is part of the trip too.

She mentions about a couple of times where when she’s down, Marbella is a good place to get away to and recover your energy and zest for life. Getting away to a different location always enables a fresh view of things to form as well as give new focus to emerse yourself in. Of course – for sun worshippers the thrill of chilling and tanning is always a pick me up.

This is where the story of Jacqueline particularly seem’s apt for me at the moment as I am looking for new adventures in life, to immerse oneself in solving worldly issuses or participate in a good cause where it puts our own life in perspective and how we can get the most out of our precious time on earh.

Anyhow, I digress…. here I am thinking about Jacqueline Gold and how she faces tragedy or setbacks in life and always has Marbella !! and I’m thinking Marbella’s ok, I’ve enjoyed myself their a few times already and I’m also part of an expanding holiday business who handles a lot of reservations for Marbella holidays, but its not what is going to cheer me up at this point,,… where else is there within easy travelling of the UK and somewhere I can be fully involved in something useful and possibly even environmental? I glimpsed at Mijas along Costa Del Sol – but lets look away from Spain… How about the Canaries ? Nope – a little further I think, Marakesh…. no, …

Then it hit me, Cape Verde! I’ve been looking to possibly invest in somewhere upcoming like Cape Verde – and then, like a higher power was controlling my mouse – I clicked on a link in Google for “Boa Vista Experience” and then into their forum to read what the English folk were talking about and their was an announcement that The Turtle Foundation were looking for Volunteers to help protect female Loggerhead turtles who were being slaughtered by poachers as they were coming ashore to lay their eggs for future turtles to grace our oceans !!! Eurika ! that was the moment I knew that I’d found what I needed to gain a clear perspective and rejuvenate my enthusiasm :-)

Thankfully, my application as a volunteer to help The Turtle Foundation on Boavista was accepted, and I’m due to fly out for a whole new adventure and life experience for 7 weeks in Cape Verde on the 3rd August as the Turtle laying season just heats up and there’s reports coming in of masacred Turtles on some of Boavistas paradise beaches.. Check out my facebook updates in TURTLE FOUNDATION – Cabo Verde group page on Facebook and I’ll also be covering it in my main blog.

The Most Dangerous Affiliate Marketing Mistakes

August 20, 2009

Affiliate marketing is a very basic concept and it offers a lot of flexibility and automation for the person making money with it, but there are certain rules, steps and procedures that you need to follow in order to making a stabile and healthy income with it. To neglect these things would be to put your entire business model in danger.

I want to talk to you about some of the most common mistakes that people make when starting in affiliate marketing. These things cost people their income and can be easily avoided. They concern your commissions, your process of promotion and many other factors involved.

When we talk about affiliate and internet marketing, we have to know that there are three main parties involved and they are the merchant, the costumer and the affiliate. The affiliate refers the costumer to the merchant’s site where the costumer then spends money on a product. The merchant then proceeds to pay the affiliate the established commission for the sale.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the most common mistakes that people make.

In my opinion, one of the most serious and costly mistakes that people make when starting out is directly promoting the affiliate sales page. This means that they spend advertising dollars, their time and effort to send traffic and targeted visitors directly to the merchant via the affiliate link. Instead, what they could do is create a conduit or a funnel with their own sites, where they can presell the visitor, build trust and credibility and maybe even get a repeat visitor or two.

Also, this would be a perfect opportunity for you to build a list of subscribers to whom you can promote and offer many different products on a regular basis. For a lot of marketers, this often becomes the largest portion of their income and each email broadcast that they do creates a real traffic swarm to their affiliate links. If you want your visitors to visit the website again and again, offer them some kind of free benefit like free gifts, software or e-books.

Another great mistake is creating a site full of affiliate links, flashy banners and graphics.

There are many different drawbacks to this problem. First of all, people do not like to wait for a site to load and this is what a lot of heavy graphics can do to a site. Second, they don’t like to click banners and much more prefer to click contextual links that revolve around a topic of their interest. Third, if they get a feeling that all that you have on your site are affiliate links, this visitor will be off before you blink.

In conclusion, an affiliate marketing beginner should really take notice of these issues and make the best of the resources that he has. A simple and elegant site with informative resources and a clear layout will do more for you than you know.

Basement Waterproofing Will Be Explained By means of An Authority

August 20, 2009

Murphy’s Law tells us that short cuts could before long prove to be long cuts. Meaning if you are going to do a project, do it correct. Basement waterproofing is no immunity to the rule. Even though you could find a lot of bandage solutions to water issues in your basement. basement waterproofing Getting It done it right the original time is fundamentally the cost effective solution. basement leaking

Basement waterproofing is not a do it yourself assignment. For a suitable assessment, it is best to obtaining the judgment if a trained, educated Basement Waterproofing specialist. leak in basement

If you you are constructing new or dealing with water issue the same rules apply. Further than 90% of basements leak water from the walls and the joint anywhere the floor and wall get together. Basements infrequently leak water up throughout the floor, although this can happen in certain cases, commonly from blocked drain tiles all-around the outside perimeter round the building. This can moreover happen if there are artesian wells under the floor.

If the subsurface or underground water level is close up to the underneath of the basement floor slab, water rises through the slab by capillary action, plus you will have a wet basement. If the subsurface or ground water plane is higher than the basement floor, water leaks in through the walls and floor, causing standing water in the basement as well as, at times, dampness in the rooms overhead.

As concrete cures, it inescapably develops capillaries. Permit the concrete to dry for at least 28 days and after that applying a sealant to the concrete. Shield the cement against water leaching; this will also make stronger the concrete. Empty cinder blocks and concrete blocks have a void core; some have observable holes rather than microscopic pores.

The most effective basement waterproofing technique is to use a sealant on both sides of the concrete block. Be certain the concrete has cured for at minimum 28 days, making certain to allow 14 days for the mortar in cinder block walls as well. After applying the sealant, let the concrete dry out for at least 3 days rather than doing any additional external waterproofing or backfill.

One basement waterproofing is by means of black tar on the outer surface. Using this method of waterproofing for a basement is somewhat questionable. The problem is that it does not hold up very long. It might help to enhance your problem for a time, most likely it will only hold up for a few years.

A much better choice for basement waterproofing, is rubberized membranes. These exceptional membranes when  put on to your walls and your floor are initially a liquid that cures quickly into a special membrane. They are simple to do yourself.

An additional basement waterproofing way includes using  waterproofing paint. Waterproofing paint is the least expensive option. However, it is not one of the better choices. Some people have had good success with this method, well others felt it did not last very long at all.

High-priced yet effective basement waterproofing is to due the exterior foundation drain tiles. This choice is good if you turn out to reside in an area where it rains a great deal. Most folks have found that it is enormously effective.
